Like I said, I've started a lot of blogs in the past. (First TIME TRAVEL REFERENCE!) I lost two of them thanks to Blogspot (GRRR, curse you Blogspot!) and two others disappeared into the black hole called my mind. Truth is, I have a hard time staying interested in anything for long. My mistakes, therefore, in my past blogs (TTR!!!) are simple to discern--I made my blogs too specific.
Let it never be said that I am a person who can't learn from her mistakes! So this time, this blog is going to be different, from day to day, week to week, depending on what strange and wondrous epiphanies explode inside my brain. Presuming they do. When they don't ,the blog may just consist of ranting and whining, or revealing private thoughts that will probably come back to bite me some day. Or recipes. Recipes are always good.
All I can promise it that it will probably be weird. That's all I can really tell you right now. But just to be semi-normal on the first day, let's start off with something everyone will love to hear about: My car.
MY BELOVED BEANIE
I've always wanted a Mini Cooper! Always always since I first saw one up close! So when I inherited some money, I bought one. This one in fact, in the picture to the left. I named him Beanie. After I named him that, someone told me that Mr. Bean of BBC fame drove a Mini, but that's not why I named him Beanie. I named him Beanie because when I'm inside of him, it's like being inside a little pinto bean. Why I think that I'm not sure, but there it is.
I love Beanie. He is the least complicated relationship in my life. He makes me feel young and free, when I am neither. He makes me feel a little reckless, which I am not at all. He makes me feel creative, which I am when the wind is blowing in the right direction. But mostly, he gives me joy every time I drive him. So he is more than worth what I paid for him. Which wasn't as much as you probably think, because I am cheap. I mean REALLY cheap. I don't buy new things. I buy old things and remake them into new things. And even though Beanie is a 2009, 'tis NEW to this girl.
And just WHO is THIS GIRL, some of you might be asking. Well, probably you're not wondering that, but it's possible, so here goes. I am an author, and ironically an author of TIME TRAVEL ROMANCES, but because of recent changes in the publishing world, that no longer means what it used to mean. Lots of people are authors now through the power of ebooks, and they deserve to be. Anyone who can finish a book and has the guts to post it on amazon has my support all the way. This has resulted in a bunch of REALLY BAD BOOKS that can be bought, but so what? There are always bad books on the market, but most of these are cheaper than anything you can buy at Half-Price Books. And even better, some of them are actually REALLY GOOD.
So am I going to talk about ebooks and authors today?
Nope. But I might. Another day. In the meantime, all you need to know is that I'm not always going to talk about writing and publishing. I am a weirdo and I will write weird things. But I might write normal things sometimes. It just depends on the day and the level of my medication. So until I write again, please take another look at Beanie and envy me deeply and desperately. But know that it took 20 years and an inheritance to land him. Like a good man. Sometimes. Some come cheaper and sooner.
